What Do Students Do On A School Trip?
A school group at Pratapgarh Farms moves between the adventure course, the fields, the rides and the village yard, all of it included in the day.
The adventure course runs beside the playing fields: the Burma Bridge, the Double Rope Bridge, the Swinging Burma Bridge, the Commando Net, the Zipline, Sky Cycling, the Tarzan Jump, Water Zorbing and Body Zorbing. On the fields sit cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, mini golf, the bowling alley and Zapminton, with Gulli-Danda, Pithoo, the Sack Race, the Lemon Spoon Race and the Matka Race for the classes that want to compete.
The rides cross the farm all day: the Camel Ride, the Camel Cart, the Bullock Cart, the Tractor Ride, the Toy Train Ride, the Ferris Wheel, the Frog Ride, the Dragon Caterpillar Ride and the Bungee Basket. The Shaurya Gaatha Army Museum holds the MiG-21 Display, the Missile Display, the Artillery Gun Display and the LMG Tent. The House of Illusion has the Clone Table, the Beuchet Chair, the Ames Room and the Human Kaleidoscope, with the Haunted House and the Mirror Maze on the same walk.
Vidya Devi Jindal School, Hisar, brought Classes IV to VIII and wrote that the girls “jollied around on camel, bullock cart, and tractor rides”. Inmantec brought its final year students from Ghaziabad and recorded “camel ride, bullock cart ride, gulli danda, rain dance, boating, pottery, rope bridge”.
What Do They Learn In The Village Yard?
The village yard is where the day becomes a lesson. Your students churn ghee and butter from milk, milk the cows at the Vedic Gau Gram, cook on the hearth, pound grain and grind it, carry the water pails in the Panihari Chaal, and work the Charkha and the handloom. They throw a pot at the wheel, tie a pagdi, and paint a matka.
I.T.S, Ghaziabad, took its MCA students in October 2022 and listed the village half of the day in its own account: “cooking on hearth, pounding grain, grinding grains”, and in the fields “ploughing, sowing, reaping, winnowing”. The dairy and the gardens carry the learning further: the Biogas Plant, the Vermicomposting Plant, the vegetable garden where the seed goes in, and the bullocks at the plough.
Darshan Academy, Hisar, brought Classes III to XII and wrote that the farm “provided an opportunity to participate in the daily life of our village folk”. Mount Abu Public School, Delhi, came with its IB PYP learners, who “connected classroom concepts with real-life experiences by understanding sustainability, agriculture, and community living”. Kids Garden Senior Secondary School, Pilani, wrote that “the day offered a variety of hands-on experiences that blended learning with adventure”.
S.V.I.S.G., Delhi, brought Classes X and XI for “hands on experience” of team-building, and wrote: “The excursion not only filled students with joy, but, also taught them how one can learn the fun way.”
What Do They Eat?
Breakfast runs 09:30 to 12:00 and lunch 13:30 to 15:30, both unlimited, and the Sara Din counters stay open between them. Breakfast is stuffed paranthas with white farm fresh Makhan, Poori Chole or Chole Bhature, Aloo or Pethe ki Sabji, Dahi, Achaar and Chatni. Lunch is Missi, Tawa or Tandoori Roti, Rajma, Sarson Ka Saag or the seasonal vegetable, Paneer Shahi, Kadhi, Dahi or Raita and Suji ka Halwa.
Between the meals the counters run: Neembu Shikanjee, Chacch, Tea and Pakoras, Kadhai doodh, Jalebi, Makee Bajre ki roti with desi Ghee, and the Chatpate Din and Meethe Meethe Pal counters for chaat and sweets.
The HDFC School, Gurugram, came for its staff picnic in March 2023 and remembered “regional delicacies, ranging from aloo paratha with white butter, to aloo-puri with jalebi-rabri”. Suraj School’s hostel students wrote that “the delicious authentic food and moments of shared laughter made this day truly special”. Inmantec’s final year students did the day “while munching on Traditional Indian food”.
The Welcome At The Gate
Your group is met at the gate, with a tilak on the forehead and a Haryanvi pagdi tied over it, and the folk artists start as the buses empty. The Been-Dholki-Nagada Dance plays through the afternoon.
I.T.S’s MCA students “had a royal welcome by live folk musician dancers dressed up in their Rajasthan costumes”. S.V.I.S.G’s classes “saw a scintillating performance by the folk artists”, and came away knowing more “about culture, folk dance and ethnic food of Haryana”. Inmantec recorded the DJ floor too: “DJ Floor also had many takers”.
A Day From 09:30 To 17:30
Breakfast and lunch are the only two fixed points. Everything else is free-flow: your students choose their own activities for the rest of the day, and the group moves at its own pace.
