Pratapgarh Farms in the News

Pratapgarh Farms is the farm Haryana showed its G20 guests. On 4 March 2023 the delegation of the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group spent its fourth day on the 35 acres, each delegate greeted with a Haryanvi pagdi tied on and a tilak on the forehead, with dhol and nagada at the gate.

Dainik Bhaskar, Amar Ujala, ETV Bharat and News18 all carried the day. The Chief Minister’s Office published the January visit itself, and TotalTV carried it the same afternoon.

The Chief Minister Came In January, And Said Why

Manohar Lal, then Haryana’s Chief Minister, came to Pratapgarh Farms on 13 January 2023 to see the state’s preparations for the G20 meetings Haryana would host. The release his office published the same day records what he did: he watched the farm’s activities in sports, arts, culture, food, agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry, and he greeted the people of the state on Lohri and Makar Sankranti.

That release records what he said as well. Village tourism, the Chief Minister told the press that afternoon, is promoted through this farm. That is a state naming one farm as the way it shows rural Haryana to its visitors, and TotalTV carried it within hours.

The Day The Delegation Came

By the first week of March the farm had been dressed for the visit. Dainik Bhaskar reported on 4 February that piddhe, the Haryanvi sweet, were being made to go home with the guests as gifts. Surya Samachar reported on 21 February that the farm was ready and that the visitors would meet Haryanvi culture in it. On 1 March Amar Ujala had Deputy Commissioner Shakti Singh walking the preparations with his team, and the plan to tie a Haryanvi pagdi on every guest.

What the delegation met on the day is consistent across the reports: a tilak on the forehead, a pagdi tied on, flowers, dhol and nagada, and the dishes of the Haryanvi kitchen. ETV Bharat, published the evening before, described a farm fully prepared. Four days later News18 recorded the delegates leaving with a thank you for Haryana.

The Ministry Of Tourism Named It A Best Tourism Village

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, named Pratapgarh Farms a Best Tourism Village of India in 2023. The announcement came on World Tourism Day at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, out of a national list chosen from 775 villages, and the government broadcaster Akashvani carried it that evening.

The Travel Press Found It Before The G20 Did

The travel press has recommended the farm since 2019. News18 sent readers to it in September 2019 as a two-hour escape from Delhi, Amar Ujala put it 55 km from the capital the same month, and ABP Live ran a picnic guide in May 2022 on the strength of the village atmosphere.

ET Travel’s piece of 6 November 2023 is the fullest picture of the ground around it. It is about Talao, the village the farm sits in: the sarpanch, Anil Kumar, puts footfall there at close to a lakh visitors a year, and the same piece records that the village hosted delegates to a G20 meeting that year. Pratapgarh Farms appears in it as one of the village’s neighbours.

The Farm’s Record

Pratapgarh Farms is approved and registered by the Department of Tourism, Government of Haryana, and has been since 2008. The accreditation page carries the certificate and the recognition, the About page sets out the founder and the farm’s story, and the day the G20 delegation came to Pratapgarh Farms is the long account of 4 March 2023.

Pratapgarh Farms is open from 09:30 to 17:30, all seven days, 4 km from Jhajjar town, and the Google Maps pin opens directions from wherever you set out. A family day out is booked online, and a school trip or a team’s day is arranged with the team on +91 9999964266 and picnic@pratapgarhfarms.com.
