Best Farm in Haryana for a Day Out

Pratapgarh Farms is a 35-acre farm tourism destination, the biggest and best in Delhi NCR, and the best farm in Haryana for a day out. The farm sits near Delhi NCR on highway-connected roads the whole way, and everything a family needs for the day is inside one gate — the adventure course, the carnival, the animals, the villages, the gardens and the kitchen. A farm day is a small number of things done properly: the space to move, an activity for every hour, unlimited food, and a record you can check before you leave home. The rest of this page takes those four in order.

35 Acres, And The Whole Day Inside One Gate

Thirty-five acres, gated, with the playing fields, the activity arenas, the lake, the gardens and the dining halls inside one boundary and a short walk apart. Haveli-style halls and rural huts give shade when the sun is high. The lake is the quietest hour of the afternoon, with Boating in the swan pedal boats. The walk back runs through the Biodiversity Park and Theme Garden — the Ramayan Heritage Walk, Shakti Vatt Vraksh, the Herb Garden, Nakshatra Vatika, Navgriha Vatika, Triphla Kunj, Panchvati and Bodh Vatika — with the Hanuman Ji and Shiv Ji temples and the Sita Kuti along the way, and 150 species of trees overhead. Pratapgarh Farms runs 150+ activities across 15 categories, every one of them open to every guest and all of them included, which is why a family that arrives at 09:30 and leaves at 17:30 still has a list left over. The farm is open all days, 09:30 to 17:30, and the gates close at 17:30, so everyone is home the same evening. A day here is the day picnic near Delhi NCR families plan for months and finish in one afternoon.

The Adventure Course, The Water And The Playing Fields

The adventure course is where the day starts and where most of the morning goes: Zipline and Flying Disc Zipline, Sky Cycling, Sky Skating, the Sky Roller, the Commando Net, the Swinging Burma Bridge, the Inverted A Rope Bridge, the Tyre Wall Traverse, the Happy Hopper, the Double Block Swing, the Cat Walk, the Elephant Walk, the Swinging Plank, the Zig Zag Walk and the Tarzan Jump. Then the water — Water Zorbing, Body Zorbing and the Rain Dance. The sports side runs Mini Golf, the Bowling Alley, Frisbee Disc Target, Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Gulli-Danda, Pithoo, Zapminton, the Sack Race, the Lemon Spoon Race, the Matka Race and the Bhul Bhulaiya maze. The Indoor Games Pavillion holds Pool Table, Air Hockey, Foosball, Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Ludo, Snakes and Ladders, Jenga, Ring Toss and Cricket Darts — the floor to walk to when the afternoon is at its hottest. Every one of them is included in the day, so the family moves through them at its own pace.

The Carnival, The Toy Train And The House Of Illusion

The carnival zone runs the Frog Ride, the Dragon Ship, the Ferris Wheel, the Bull Ride, Melt Down, Hungry Hippos, the Bungee Run, the Bungee Basket and Human Foosball. The Toy Train Ride, the Bhul Bhulaiya maze and the Mirror Maze keep the youngest guests busy, and the Children’s Play Park has Monkey Bars, Swings, Slides, Spring Riders, Spinners and See-Saws a short walk from all of it. The House of Illusion holds the Ames Room, the Human Kaleidoscope, the Beuchet Chair and the Head on Platter, with the Infinity Well and the Vortex Tunnel beside them. The Haunted House is a state-of-the-art attraction guaranteed to get your heart racing. The Shaurya Gaatha Army Museum and the Farmers Heritage Agricultural Museum sit a short walk away, with the Terracotta of India Display Gallery and the Haryana Occupations Museum alongside them, and the Magic Show, the Puppet Show and the Bioscope run through the afternoon.

The Village Half: The Gau Gram And The Craft Yard

At the Vedic Gau Gram, guests feed the desi cows by hand and make Ghee and Butter from Milk themselves, working the wooden bilona the slow way — curd to makhan, makhan to ghee — with the Chacch poured into kulhads and handed round. The animal farm holds desi cows, Murrah buffaloes, camels, goats, emu, guinea fowl, ducks, chickens and rabbits, and the Camel Ride and the Camel Cart Ride start from beside them. In the village yard, guests turn a pot at the potter’s wheel, weave on the Charkha and the handloom, tie a Pagdhi, make a Peedha, grind grain on the Chakki, take Mehendi, and try Panihari Chaal, the balancing of water pails. The Been-Dholki-Nagada Dance, the Puppet Show and the Magic Show run through the afternoon, and the Handicraft Stalls sell what the yard makes. The farms are the other half of the day — Ploughing, Sowing, Reaping and Winnowing, the Vermicomposting Plant and the Biogas Plant — with the farmers who work them on hand to explain each one.
